About the Destination

Ouranoupoli is a small coastal village on the eastern coast of Halkidiki, the last settlement before the autonomous monastic state of Mount Athos. It is the only port for Athos ferries and day cruises, and the location where pilgrims collect their Diamonitirion entry permit.

The drive from Thessaloniki Airport follows the Egnatia Odos eastbound, then turns south onto the Athos road past Stagira, Stratoni, and Ierissos before reaching Ouranoupoli at the edge of the monastic territory.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long is the transfer from SKG to Ouranoupoli?

Around 2 hours from Thessaloniki Airport in normal traffic.

Can you align the transfer with my Mount Athos ferry?

Yes. The morning Athos ferry departs early — typically 09:45 — and pilgrim entry requires being at the Diamonitirion office before that. We schedule pickup accordingly, often very early in the morning.

Can you drop us directly at the Ouranoupoli pier instead of a hotel?

Yes. We frequently do pier drop-offs for day cruises and ferry departures. Please mention this at booking.

Do you provide return transfers?

Yes. Pickup is typically 3 hours before international departures, given the distance from the eastern coast.

What if my flight is delayed?

We track all flights in real time. Your driver adjusts pickup automatically and waits in arrivals at no extra charge.

Are tolls and parking included?

Yes. All Egnatia Odos and Halkidiki road tolls, plus airport parking, are arranged by us with nothing to pay on the day.
